Project Engineer - Multi Family Construction
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Office-based)
Our Client is a well-established construction firm specializing in the development of multifamily apartment complexes. They are seeking a Project Engineer to join their Indianapolis office and support the successful delivery of multifamily projects.
Position Overview
The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and field teams to provide technical and administrative support on multifamily construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with multifamily experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop strong project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily apartment projects.
Manage and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other project documentation.
Support cost tracking, budget updates, and change order processing.
Help develop and maintain project schedules; monitor progress and identify potential issues.
Coordinate communication between the office, field teams, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate project records.
Assist with pre-construction activities, including quantity takeoffs, bid solicitation, and subcontractor coordination.
Support quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to contract documents.
Aid in project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, and final documentation.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment while taking on increasing responsibility.
Qualifications
Experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role on multifamily residential construction projects (multifamily experience is required).
Working knowledge of construction documents, contracts, scheduling, and project delivery methods.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Relevant industry certifications a plus.
